Pakistani Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, married

(CNN) – Malala Yousafzai has married the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Pakistani activist, it was announced Tuesday in Instagram.

“Today marks a precious day in my life,” Yousafzai wrote in her letter. “Asir and I got married to be lifelong partners. We had a small nickname party at home in Birmingham with our families.”

“Please send your prayers. We are excited to walk together on the path that lies ahead,” he added.

Her husband is Asir Malik, Operations Manager of Pakistan Cricket Board in Lahore.

Yousafzai has won international recognition for her activism against the Taliban’s efforts to prevent girls from going to school.

When she was 15 years old, she was shot in the head by a Taliban member and was taken to England for treatment.

In 2014, she won the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 17, becoming its youngest recipient.

Last year he earned a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University.
